Simon Spark joins MFB

January 10 2019

MFB is pleased to announce the arrival of Simon Spark.

Simon specialises in shipping, international trade and offshore energy work. He joined MFB in 2019, having previously been a partner at another well-known London shipping firm for 15 years.

He provides commercial advice on shipping contracts (carriage of goods, pooling arrangements, transshipment contracts, shipbuilding, second-hand sales and shipping derivatives); on the trading and transportation of commodities (in particular, LNG and oil); and, in the offshore energy sector, on EPC/EPCI/EPCIC, construction and hire contracts.

He has extensive litigation experience, regularly conducting major disputes for clients in London and international arbitration (LMAA, LCIA, SIAC and ICC) and the English Courts (including the Supreme Court). He also has considerable non-contentious experience, advising clients on the transportation components of coal transshipment projects and LNG, FPSO, FSRU and FLNG projects.

He has recently been heavily involved in advising clients on the impact of the new MARPOL global sulphur cap in 2020. The Chambers Directory and The Legal 500 guides both recommend him for shipping.
