James joined MFB in September 2019 having spent 12 years at Stephenson Harwood LLP in London. His practice concentrates on representing major international shipowners, high net-worth individuals, brokers, managers, banks, and other financial institutions on a variety of complex cross-border projects and financing arrangements. James has extensive experience advising on syndicated and bilateral debt financings and refinancings, sale and purchases, sale and leasebacks, Japanese operating leases structures with call options (JOLCOs), construction contracts, registrations and ownership structuring across the yachting and commercial shipping sectors.
He is recognised for his ability to deliver clear and pragmatic advice in each of these areas of expertise and is also highly valued by his clients for his dedication and approachability, his pro-active and commercial approach and his ability to execute transactions smoothly and efficiently.
