James Foley-Comer specialises in commercial shipping and yacht transactional work.

He joined MFB in September 2019 having spent 12 years at Stephenson Harwood LLP in London where he trained and qualified into the Ship Finance group in 2009. James has extensive experience advising major international shipowners, high net-worth individuals, brokers, managers, banks and other financial institutions on a variety of complex cross-border financing arrangements and projects. His practice has a particular focus advising on syndicated and bilateral debt financings, construction contracts, sale and purchases, leasing’s and restructurings, ownership structuring and registration across the commercial shipping and yacht sectors.

James was a principal contributor to the 'Sale and Purchase of Second-hand Vessels' chapter in the recently published latest edition of leading industry text.




Jake Bond is a Master Mariner with more than 13 years sea-going experience.

During his career Jake has worked as an officer on commercial merchant vessels, in the US auxiliary fleet supporting US coalition efforts and in the offshore oil and gas industry. He has seagoing experience on product tankers, LNG tankers, offshore loading tankers, ammunition carriers, break-bulk heavy lift, drillships, various offshore vessels and a fish processor. He is also a qualified Dynamic Positioning Operator with the Nautical Institute.

Jake gained Certificates of Competency as a US Merchant Officer upon graduation from Texas A&M University at Galveston with a degree in Marine Transportation B. S. and a minor in Maritime Administration. Jake is currently undertaking his training contract at MFB
