Simon Spark joins MFB

January 7 2019

MFB is pleased to announce the arrival of Simon Spark.

Simon is an International arbitration and commercial dispute resolution partner specialising in shipping and energy disputes.

Simon has an extensive contentious shipping practice acting for many of the principal ship-owners, operators and charterers in Europe, Asia and the US, and for their P&I, FD&D and H&M insurers. He advises on contractual disputes arising under charterparties, COAs, bills of lading, forward freight agreements (FFAs), shipbuilding contracts and MOAs for the sale and purchase of vessels.

Simon acts for many of the world’s largest energy contractors, ship-owners and shipyards in Europe, Asia and the US. He advises clients on EPC/EPCI/EPCIC, shipbuilding and hire contracts in the offshore energy sector. Simon has considerable experience of handling complex, high value construction disputes for his clients.

His recent cases include a USD600m arbitration concerning the construction of a semi-submersible at HHI and a US$300m dispute arising from the construction of an accommodation unit at HHI both for Norwegian interests.

Simon frequently advises on and negotiates commercial contracts for his clients in the shipping and energy spheres. He has extensive experience of drafting and negotiating charterparties, COAs, transhipment contracts, shipbuilding contracts, joint venture agreements and other commercial contracts for his clients, and of drafting and negotiating the commercial contracts for LNG transportation and FPSO, FSRU and FLNG projects.
